A Journey
18 December 2012
To be truthful, it has been some time since we started to work with new ideas in the kitchen, making our own range of mixtures and savoury nuts. Working on new stuff like this website and running the shops.
But I must say, be sure to come and find one of our favourites; the medley of smoked macadamias, almonds and cashews.
Once a while, we would make a visit to the local supermarket. Once, I was with my daughter. Gathering the fresh groceries, flour and so on.. Soon we walked past the rows of chips. In particular, the BBQ chips look rather enticing. The memories of one of those picnic trips we once had came to me. We always had those chips with us during our trips.
And as I was leaving, I felt we could play with some ideas in the kitchen. Back at home, we began to try a different kind of recipe. A different taste of smoky barbeque sauce. We flipped books, researched, cooked and tasted. Then we decided to have it Caribbean-styled. A generous dash of spices. An interesting discovery; we appreciated and marveled at how the indigenous Caribbean people came up with early food smoking techniques.
So this month, we are using some smokiness to accompany the natural sweetness of large, chewy pistachios. We hope that these are the best gifts for every season.
